Musashi is still referred to today as "The Samurai".
He devoted his life to mastering the art of sword fighting, but his principle was the use of any weapon or strategy to defeat adversaries and coldly stated, "Everything is admitted to overcome the opponent"...
In fact, in his time, Musashi was always looked upon as an outsider and was an outcast practically all his life. But his success in combat grew and made him a legend.
At the end of his days of combat, with a sum of more than 100 deaths at his hands, Musashi began writing a book that became the bible of the Samurai THE BOOK OF 5 RINGS whose principles were adapted and are used today by the most powerful men of industry and business in Japan, the basic principle being to use BUSHIDO as a way to train the body and mind to achieve perfect performance in everything you do in life.
That is why, even today, a reference and example, followed by many with devotion.
From the age of 30, Musashi benefited from a new phase in the history of Japan that led to a radical change in the way of life of the Samurai, who until then lived in constant wars.
The rise to power of a new Shogun that completely dominated the country brought lasting peace. From then on, Japan closed its doors to the world for 250 years.
In the remaining 34 years of Musashi's life, he devoted himself entirely to poetry, to deepening the study of Martial Arts, but this time with a very different goal. The man who started his saga of death by killing his first opponent at age 13 and at 29 already had a long list of 60 deaths and rose from a humble peasant, with no lineage, to the fame of being the greatest Samurai of all time, became recognized and famous and adopted the posture of an enlightened Master, guiding his disciples to deepen the art of BUSHIDO.
A week before he died, he wrote the Dokkodo, a list of principles whose translation could be said to be "The Path of Aloneness", "The Way to Go Forth Alone", or "The Way of Walking Alone", which principles are as follows:
